How provisioning works

The flow

StageReady takes a Windows laptop from bare metal to fully provisioned in a single boot:

1. Generate a code. In the dashboard, pick the client and a setup profile. You get a 6-digit code that works once and expires in minutes.
2. Boot the USB and enter it. Boot the device from the StageReady stick and type the code. The device confirms which client it's provisioning for.
3. Windows installs. StageReady installs Windows 11 from a blank disk.
4. Enroll and configure. The device registers into the client's Windows Autopilot, and region, language, keyboard and timezone are applied.
5. Walk away. Every step reports to your dashboard live and is recorded permanently.

Bare metal or existing Windows

StageReady is true bare-metal: it installs the operating system itself. If a device already has Windows — say a machine straight from the manufacturer, or one being repurposed — the install step is skipped automatically and everything after it still runs.

What's on the USB

Nothing sensitive. The stick is a messenger: it knows how to phone home to StageReady and nothing else. No passwords, no client names, no logic. See the security model for why a lost stick is a non-event.

Proof of work

Because every code, step, and device is logged permanently, you can show any client exactly what was done, when, and by whom.
